I am fuckin speechless. Fuck music. Me and Prez is on some fam shit. I was with 29 and Prez yesterday at southcenter for half the day before the show. The sad part is that Me and Prez was makin shirts to give out at the stop the violence show tommorrow. The thing that absolutely kills me is that 29 really wanted me and element to do this track for him. He got locked up shortly after that and I actually seen him for the first time again yesterday. He was a very chill dude. No hatred in em at all about the proof/Seattle shit. That's because prez was instilling in em to get his hustle on and he was determined to get a better name in this city. Us outta towners is hard to try and come up out here (especially in seattle) because of the big mixing pot of artists but even worse because in situations like this, when somethin like this happens you have no family that can visit you. Its just so fucked up because you never know who can go next, I went from seein this dude 29 yesterday, giving him some free gear because he absolutely had no money, sharing drinks with em at the chop suey bar, now I gotta read bout em in the paper. Its fucked upLogicsMusic.COM

    joey t:being real,
I really wonder what the real purpose was behind this shooting.
we can't sweep this under the usual "gang related" thing when no one knows what is going on and its at a hip hop show.
the shooter was white and went directly into the hallway and opened fire from what i am reading. was he at the show to begin with?

    First off,
Trama is crazy heard he proceeded to fight after he was shot and bleeding.
Imma say this once and not get into it,
From a direct source. It was all over someone "who had got robbed" before and he called in someone (not handling the issue himself) and the shooter knocked on the back door and let the shots go. The person with the initial beef got a stool broken over his face. End of story.LogicsMusic.COM

just heard the news. This is a terrible event. I hope for the best for Prez and give condolences to 29e's fam.

This is what the infamous "they" wanted and "they" got it. Everyone who has ever said Hip Hop is dangerous got proof for 2009 that Hip Hop is still a threat. This is the bull shit that sets everyone back whether it's born out of the music or not, whether it's over beats or drugs this happened at a hip hop show.

I still can't believe it but at the same time it's time we take responsibility. Am I my brothers keeper? What the fuck is all this for? Why are we making music, is it for this? What are we doing to stop this from ever happening again? These are the questions we needed to ask before this happened.
If all that comes out of the proof for this shit is a memorial and posting messages of condolence then fuck it, this whole forum is bull shit. let's stop talking about stopping this shit and actually do it.Akrish FRESH AVE BLOG

What A bunch of Chimosos.... Man why dont you send a prayer for Prez... I was the last person with him when he was carted away and I stayed close to him and was the only one there with him as I tried to go out the back door, and instead of just stepping over the body like I usually would, I saw it was my guy, and he was alone so I stayed with him, checked his pulse, checked his eyes, checked for bullet location (Chest and Abdomen 3 to 4 shots) and his breathing... Then I told him "to keep his eyes open, stay with me and breathe steady brother" and then stayed with him and as soon as the police showed gave them his stat. So please send the guy a prayer and stop gossiping.... and by the way the police will be checking this blog for information for their investigation. Just FYI & Common sense...

If this happened at a QFC, I'm not going to sit here and wonder what the grocer community needs to do to make sure this never happens and how we as grocery buying people can help the community. I don't think the music is totally without blame. In this situation though it wasn't involved with the show at all, BUT the happenings of many other events have been direct result of people being influenced by what they hear. I don't only mean hip-hop.

ANY music that is violent or negative. And even STILL..it's all about the person. It's just that 95 percent of people are sheep who can't think and act for themselves, but only be influenced by what they hear. it's unfortunate. I'm happy there's still that 5 percent who know better than to act on stupidity.

I don't think anybody believes it has NOTHING to do with the type of crowd that was there. that's just some fantasy shit, the crowd/music/culture is a reflection of a larger problem. The dude didn't hear a song and decide to start shooting. There was a long progression of events that lead that person to be at the club with a loaded gun in a mind state to be capable of doing that. Just like there was a long progression of events that lead to the other kid robbing someone. Both series of events lead to people getting hurt last night. It wasn't directly related to the artist performing but it was wasn't a random act of violence either.

Blaming security is kind of silly IMO and maybe that's because I worked security at that club. But when people want to hurt other people they can do it especially with guns. I've opened that same door a million times in the past and nobody ever started shooting.

Hip hop does have to start to own up to the glorification of the violence. It's been real muddy whether art was imitating life or vice versa for a long time. A lot of younger people have been inundated with violence from MANY media outlets their whole life and they are fucked up because of it. Is Hip Hop solely responsible? Not even close but we aren't innocent either.

I personally chose not to go and DJ for Fatal because I knew the type of people that go to this show and I didn't want to deal with any drama, so for me, I saw the lineup, interpreted the people that would attend, and decided I didn't need to be there. But at the same time, that decision had nothing to do with the fact that I felt someone was going to be brainwashed into firing inside of the venue.Ain't nuttin worse, than a smart dumb nigga

2 things, "stepping over the body like I usually would" means as to get the hell out of harms way as quickly as possible as i have been shot 2 times and dont want it to happen again and have seen to much violence in my life, anyone that knows me as a person and not a face knows my feelings about violence and the work I have done with kids to prevent violence... sorry that could of been worded better... and personally I really aint worried about people looking at me and what I say on this blog as if you judge anyone's character and create a opinion about them based of a blog and not personal interaction then you may want to re evaluate how you get to know someone ... but yes that could be worded better I agree Bro...

the other thing, is my comment was not directed towards anyone in particular and I do see the post of those who are sending prayers and that is appreciated, but then you always have your 206 proof opinionist... Im not a blogger and I only stop by once a month or so, but I was curious what the bloggers were gonna say about this...

With this I am out for a bit as usual, maybe I will see some of you at the hospital later today...

Stop The Violence Break The Silence....

now i remember why i dont contribute to the stranger's blogs

this is seriously heartbreaking. i agree that doing some symbolic kumbaya shit to make all involved feel like they've 'done something' is idiotic- but to just sign off the fate of what we do in this town, to allow town funk (even generations old town funk) to control this scene, is the most passive thing of all.

all this insane violence just from the last year has touched all of us somehow. this shit just hits home on a new level because despite what those bitchmade slog-flies have to say about it- doing shows, being a part of hiphop in this town is one place i've always felt safe. of course it's hiphop and you have to be on point for weird shit but somebody just came into that hallway so many of us have loitered in before and opened fire. 3 active participants in making music in this town shot. one dead. prez' status bad. i'm not from fucking mayberry by any means but this shit has me fucked up.

Right...and Bush should have just stepped in a ring with Hussein and put the gloves on instead of invading his country and jeopardizing the lives of THOUSANDS of people.

It's human nature to kill. I don't agree with it, but that's the way it is. I don't want to hurt nobody, but if somebody tries to hurt me, then I'm not only going to defend myself, I'm going to retaliate. I can't lie, I have an anger problem that's hard to control. I've tried to control it, but it ain't easy. When you grow up in certain environments and are taught how to handle your problems a certain way, it's not so easy to deprogram yourself. Some of these kids are taught that this is the way to handle your problems, with a gun. It's nothing new and it's been happening for longer than any of us have been alive.

You guys want to make a real difference in this world? Go work with some at risk youth or somethin'. Also I have to disagree on the stop the violence shows and marches...you need to think of the greater implications. Sure it will do NOTHING to directly stop the violence, but 1) it brings the community together ad 2) it is visible to the powers that be. If the mayor and other politicians see something like that, they are more likely to try and address the actually problem and not scapegoat hip hop.reppin artists since 007 Saku Collins Entertainment & Media Law Group - Blogger at Les métaphores de la tristesse

    Larry,

Seriously...I think we should release a collective press release tomorrow to all the media outlets and denounce this violence. Set them straight and don't let them spend the next week publicly bashing our scene via the news. We have allies in positions at the various publications, etc...let's utilize them. If we just sit here and don't say anything as a whole, then they're just gonna continue to blame us like they always do and we'll just keep blaming each other.
